The system is intended to encourage sustained participation, fairness, transparency, and professional development.

Proposed Award Criteria

Awards & Grants

MSO Travel Grant

  • Accepted abstract (s) OR invited as speaker in international or regional conferences. 
  • Minimum of 5 merit points in the previous year.
  • Must be a member or associate member of good standing
  • Application must be endorsed by the Selection Committee.

MSO Service Award

  • Requires 25 cumulative merit points.
  • Certified as ophthalmologist for minimum 5 years.
  • Must be a Life/Ordinary member of good standing
  • Endorsed by the Selection Committee.

MSO Distinguished Service Award

  • Requires 50 cummulative merit points.
  • Must have previously received the Service Award.
  • Endorsed by the Selection Committee.
  • For exceptional long-term contributions to MSO.

APAO / APVRS LDP/APAO fellowship

  • Minimum of 20 merit points.
  • At least 2 publications.
  • Must be a member in good standing.
